Long Course Groups and Fee Structure

    Conduct at Practice

  • Swimmers are expected to be on time for all practice sessions. We ask that parents drop their children off at least 15 minutes before the start of practice.  Swimmers then have the opportunity to visit the bathroom, get their suit, goggles and caps on and stretch before the start of their practice.  We also ask that all swimmers bring water to practice.  All of our swimmers work hard at practice each day and it is important for them to stay hydrated during this time to avoid muscle cramps.  Attendance, although not mandatory, is strongly recommended for all team members (except National Team where practice is mandatory). Planned absences should be communicated in advance with the appropriate member of the coaching staff. The team is not responsible for prorating training fees due to missed practices or vacations. Parents are not allowed on deck. Parent/coach meetings can be scheduled before or after scheduled team practices.

     Conduct at Meets

  • Swimmers need to arrive 15 minutes before warm ups begin.  Being early means being on time!  For all meets swimmers are required to wear a New Canaan Caimans team suit and team cap.  All swimmers at any meet are there to represent themselves, their coaches and the New Canaan YMCA Caimans, so we ask that they always do their best to represent this program proudly.

  • NCY Travel Code

      Code of Conduct

  • Each swimmer and their parent must read over, sign and return a Code of Conduct, which will be kept on record if disciplinary actions occur.

     Swim Meet Attendance

  • While most swim meets are not mandatory we asked that you sign your swimmer up for as many meets as possible.  Every meet your swimmer attends is an opportunity to better their swims and gain competitive experience.  We ask that if a swimmer is opted into a meet that swimmer must attend the meet.  If that swimmer fails to attend the meet, without prior notice to the coaches, they will forfeit their USA fees and be charged a fine.  All Championship meets are mandatory and each swimmer is expected to attend.  There is no need for parents to opt in their swimmers for Championship meets; the coaching staff will enter them automatically.

     Championship Meet Policy

  • All swimmers must attend any and all Championship meets they qualify for.  It is an honor and a great accomplishment to swim at a high level Championship meet.  It reflects the hard work each swimmer has put into their season and showcases the achievements of the team as a whole.  Any swimmer who fails to attend a Championship meet they qualify for will forfeit their USA fees and be fined.
